A South Gulf Cove man was arrested Friday and charged with having sex with an 11-year-old girl.
The girl told a Charlotte County deputy April 25 that she had sex several times over the past four to six weeks with Scott Lawrence Vansice, 37, of Rosebud Circle, according to a Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office press release.

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office ha removed 263 small dogs from a home in Venice Acres.
Animal Services removed the dogs over the past few days from 220 High Point Drive, Venice.

Charged with three counts of Burglary of a Conveyance and three counts of Petit Theft is Andrew Darrell Neiding, 23, 2000 block of Georgia Avenue.

John Anthony Hughes, 41, of the 1300 block of Overbrook Road, was arrested Monday by the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office and charged with possession of child pornography.
As a result of an investigation over the past few months by a detective with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, deputies executed a search warrant at Hughes’s home Monday.

The Denim and Diamonds Gala for Englewood Elementary School held March 24 at Boca Royale Country Club by Englewood Elementary School PTA raised approximately $30,000 between the silent and live auctions, sponsorships, the Giving Tree and tickets sold to kick off a free-car drawing.
Decorations were artwork provided by EES students and entertainment by auctioneer Tom Hinck, husband of EES art teacher Dawn Hinck. The live auction consisted of Rotonda Golf and Country Club membership, a custom play house, beachside vacation in the Bahamas, Flight of your Life Experience, Wakeboarding Experience, a private catered dinner party and reserved parking for the 2012–2013 school year.
