An Englewood man was reportedly in critical condition Tuesday afternoon after a wreck on U.S. 41 Bypass south of Seaboard Avenue.
John K. Bill, 58, was rushed to Blake Tauma Center in Bradenton after his 2004 Harley-Davidson motorcycle slammed into a 2002 Hyundai SUV driven by Norman O. West, 75, of Venice.

A Rotonda West man was seriously injured Sunday afternoon when his 2006 Harley-Davidson Motorcycle collided with a Chevy van at U.S. 41 and Via Veneto in Venice.
Paul D. Dunlea, no age given, was taken to Blake Medical Center in Bradenton after his motorcycle slammed into the van, which, according to the Florida Highway Patrol report, turned in front of the Harley.

Additional charges have been filed against one of the suspects arrested last week in the spate of East Englewood and Riverwood break-ins.
Nicole Marie Tanguay, 28, 2700 block of Cerullo Street, North Port, was arrested March 8 and charged with driving on a suspended license after Charlotte County detectives followed her car out of Encore Park and onto the El Jobean bridge.

Two arrests have been made in a rash of home burglaries in the East Englewood and Riverwood Golf community in the El Jobean area.
The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office held a press conference Thursday afternoon to announce the arrests of Christopher David Straw, 32, of the 3700 block of El Jobean Road, and Nicole Marie Tanguay, 28, 2700 block of Cerullo Street, North Port.

An Englewood man was killed Monday morning when he drove his motorcycle into the path of a car on South McCall Road in east Englewood, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.
Henry Kirsten, 59, was stopped at the stop sign headed north on Regina Drive at 7:08 a.m., then pulled onto South McCall Road into the path of a 2009 Hyundai Accent driven by Lisa Bertolino, 43, of Port Charlotte. The front of the car struck the motorcycle broadside, according to the report.

Lou Colombo, a legendary Cape Cod jazz trumpet player who was the undisputed king of the Massachusetts resort area’s music scene for decades, was killed Friday night in a Fort Myers car crash.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol report, Colombo, 84, of South Yarmouth, Mass., was driving his 2005 Ford Freestar when he pulled out of Island Plaza onto McGregor Boulevard and into the path of a 2010 Jeep Wrangler. The accident caused the busy road to be closed for about three hours, the report stated.

Updated Sunday, 11:44 a.m.:
Horst Appich, 71, was found early Sunday morning, walking along a road in Osprey, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office.

Charlotte County Sheriff’s detectives arrested a teenager Friday morning in connection with the Feb. 6 burglary of a home in the 10 block of Boundary Boulevard in Rotonda West. Charged with Burglary and Grand Theft was Anthony Michael Loy, 17, of the unit that adjoins the home where the burglary took place.
