Frigid air continues to grip the eastern half of the country, and Southwest Florida is expected to experience low temperatures again tonight.
According to the Charlotte County Office of Emergency Management, temperatures tonight will range from 30 to 35 degrees, and inland temperatures will drop to near freezing. Wind chill temperatures will be in the upper 20s. Patchy frost is expected overnight.

Norman Daryl Garrison, 44, 12200 block of Maltz Ave., East Englewood, was arrested by Charlotte County Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit detectives and charged with Sexual Assault Causing Serious Injury; he remains in the Charlotte County Jail on $500,000 bond.
CCSO received a call Dec. 28 that Garrison and the 38-year-old woman had both been drinking in her apartment in the presence of her teenage children. Detectives said one of them saw Garrison place two Ativan pills in their mother’s vodka bottle.

Most Sarasota County government offices and services, including libraries, the History Center and recreation centers, will be closed Friday, Dec. 23, through Monday, Dec. 26, for the Christmas holiday.
• Arlington Pool will be open noon–5 p.m. on Dec. 23, and closed on Dec. 24, 25 and 26.
• Payne Park Tennis Center will be open 7:30 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 23 and closed on Dec. 24, 25 and 26.
• Knight Trail Park gun range will be open 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Dec. 23 and closed on Dec. 24, 25 and 26.

An Englewood bicyclist suffered minor injured Thursday when he was struck by a car at North Indiana Avenue and Foxwood Boulevard.
Charles E. Sparks, 55, was riding his Shimano bike north in the right lane of North Indiana Avenue about 9:345 a.m. Thursday when, according to the Florida Highway Patrol report, a 2011 Cadillac in the southbound left turn lane of South Indiana driven by Clara Portera, 82, of Englewood, began its turn, striking Sparks.

A 77-year-old Rotonda West woman was listed in critical condition Monday night following a single-car crash in Rotonda.
Joyce N. Mathews was taken by helicopter to Lee Memorial Hospital Monday after her 2008 Honda Accord failed to negotiate a curve on Rotonda Boulevard West east of Placida Road.
