Free Thanksgiving Dinner at GCUMC

Gulf Cove United Methodist Church will host a free Thanks­giv­ing din­ner for the com­mu­nity from noon to 3 p.m. on Thurs­day, Nov. 24.

Din­ner will con­sist of turkey and all the tra­di­tional fix­ings. Indi­vid­u­als who are home­bound may call before Thurs­day and request deliv­ery if their home is within 10 miles of the church. Orders for take-outs will not be accepted early, but can be requested that day at the door.

Christmas bazaar to fill EUMC Fellowship Hall

Hand­made crafts will fill the Engle­wood United Methodist Church’s gymnasium-sized Fel­low­ship Hall at 700 E. Dear­born St. from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30   p.m. Sat­ur­day, Nov. 19, for the annual Christ­mas Bazaar. There is plenty of free park­ing, and the event is hand­i­capped accessible.

Hand­made crafts will be on sale at the Engle­wood United Methodist Church Christ­mas Bazaar.

Get into the hol­i­day spirit brows­ing through an array of Christ­mas dec­o­ra­tions, trees, orna­ments, wreaths, Afghans, baby quilts, wall hang­ings, pil­lows, hand-painted items, children’s and other gifts made by the United Methodist Women’s Cre­ative Work­shop. Buy baked goods made by the women and nuts and honey sold by the United Methodist Men.

Surviving the Holidays session at EUMC

Engle­wood United Methodist Church will offer a Grief­Share sem­i­nar on Sur­viv­ing the Hol­i­days. The sem­i­nar will be offered twice: 3 to 5 p.m. Wednes­day, Nov. 9, and 9 to 11 a.m. Sat­ur­day, Nov. 12.

United Way needs sponsors for Walk-A-Thon

The United Way of South Sara­sota County (UWSSC) is look­ing for busi­nesses and orga­ni­za­tions to help spon­sor the 6th Annual Venice Com­mu­nity Walk-A-Thon, which is sched­uled for Sat­ur­day, Feb. 25, at Cen­ten­nial Park in Venice.

Spon­sor­ships include: Gold ($500), Sil­ver ($250) and Bronze ($100).

Addi­tional in-kind spon­sors are needed for the event. Spon­sors will receive on-stage recog­ni­tion, space to hang their ban­ner, their name and logo on T-shirts and men­tion in all print media.

Vendors sought for Fall Festival

Char­lotte County Com­mu­nity Ser­vices, Recre­ation Divi­sion, is seek­ing ven­dors for the Old Fash­ion Fall Fes­ti­val on Nov. 19.

The Fall Fes­ti­val will be held at the Tringali Recre­ation Cen­ter, 3460 N. Access Road, Engle­wood, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Entrance and park­ing are free with a can food. The Fes­ti­val is for all ages.

Playhouse preps ‘Absurd Person Singular’

Cast­mem­bers of “Absurb Per­son Sin­gu­lar” take direc­tion from Bob La Salle, with script.

Lemon Bay Play­house, 96 W. Dear­born St., will present the com­edy, “Absurd Per­son Sin­gu­lar,” from Oct. 26 to Nov. 13.

Play­wright Alan Ayck­bourn takes three cou­ples in their indi­vid­ual kitchen set­tings on three suc­ces­sive Christ­mas Eves.

EARS wants a home for Silver

Sil­ver is look­ing for a per­ma­nent home.

Sil­ver is a 3-year-old spayed female. She has no tail and might be con­sid­ered a manx kitty. Sil­ver has a softy, shiny coat that looks like sil­ver in the sun­light. She is affec­tion­ate and easy to han­dle but very play­ful, too, and gets along well with other cats.
