Gulf Cove United Methodist Church will host a free Thanksgiving dinner for the community from noon to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 24.
Dinner will consist of turkey and all the traditional fixings. Individuals who are homebound may call before Thursday and request delivery if their home is within 10 miles of the church. Orders for take-outs will not be accepted early, but can be requested that day at the door.
Handmade crafts will fill the Englewood United Methodist Church’s gymnasium-sized Fellowship Hall at 700 E. Dearborn St. from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, for the annual Christmas Bazaar. There is plenty of free parking, and the event is handicapped accessible.

Get into the holiday spirit browsing through an array of Christmas decorations, trees, ornaments, wreaths, Afghans, baby quilts, wall hangings, pillows, hand-painted items, children’s and other gifts made by the United Methodist Women’s Creative Workshop. Buy baked goods made by the women and nuts and honey sold by the United Methodist Men.

Englewood United Methodist Church will offer a GriefShare seminar on Surviving the Holidays. The seminar will be offered twice: 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, and 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12.

The United Way of South Sarasota County (UWSSC) is looking for businesses and organizations to help sponsor the 6th Annual Venice Community Walk-A-Thon, which is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 25, at Centennial Park in Venice.
Sponsorships include: Gold ($500), Silver ($250) and Bronze ($100).
Additional in-kind sponsors are needed for the event. Sponsors will receive on-stage recognition, space to hang their banner, their name and logo on T-shirts and mention in all print media.

Charlotte County Community Services, Recreation Division, is seeking vendors for the Old Fashion Fall Festival on Nov. 19.
The Fall Festival will be held at the Tringali Recreation Center, 3460 N. Access Road, Englewood, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Entrance and parking are free with a can food. The Festival is for all ages.

Lemon Bay Playhouse, 96 W. Dearborn St., will present the comedy, “Absurd Person Singular,” from Oct. 26 to Nov. 13.
Playwright Alan Ayckbourn takes three couples in their individual kitchen settings on three successive Christmas Eves.

Charlotte County Fire & EMS Headquarters will open its doors at the CC Public Safety Building for the first Fire Prevention Week Open House from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13. This event is sponsored by Security Alarm Corporation for the public to attend.

Silver is looking for a permanent home.
Silver is a 3-year-old spayed female. She has no tail and might be considered a manx kitty. Silver has a softy, shiny coat that looks like silver in the sunlight. She is affectionate and easy to handle but very playful, too, and gets along well with other cats.
