The Englewood Little Band of Writers (ELBOW) plays andentertains for the traditional Christmas Sing-a-long at the Historic Green St.Church t 7 p.m. Dec. 13 .
An Englewood tradition continues when the Lemon Bay Historical Society presents its annual Christmas sing-along. Providing music and entertainment for the event will be the Englewood Little Band Of Writers (ELBOW).
The event will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, at the Historic Green St. Church, 416 W.Green St.

Uptoewn Express has been performing since 1985.
The Uptown Express is coming to the Lemon Bay Playhouse Dec. 9 and 10, featuring the sounds of doowop, rhythm and blues and Motown.
The 10-piece self-contained show features five vocalists up front to provide the harmonies of the’502, ‘60s and ‘70s and a five-piece live band.

Robert Romanski will conduct Handel’s “Messiah” at Englewood United Methodist Church.
The Englewood United Methodist Church Music Ministries Concert Series presents Handel’s “Messiah,” led by conductor Robert Romanski, at 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, in the Sanctuary, 700 E. Dearborn St.
The EUMC Chancel Choir with be joined by guest members from other area choral groups, with accompaniment by organist Fonda Davies and a 15-piece chamber orchestra of professional musicians. Vocalists Deborah Berioli, soprano; Reba Evans, alto; Adam Davidson, tenor; and Joshua Mazur, bass, are soloists.

The Lemon Bay Playhouse will hold auditions for Barefoot in the Park” at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Playhouse, 96 W. Dearborn St.
The cast for “Barefoot in the Park,” a Neil Simon comedy directed by Marion Barnes, includes four men and two women. The play will be performed Feb. 29 to March 25.

The Men’s Fellowship group kicks off the 39th year of its pancake brunches from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, in the Englewood United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 700 E. Dearborn St. The brunches run through April 21

Jack Rabito plays Harry Truman in “Given ‘Em Hell Harry” at the Lemon Bay Playhouse.
Former President Harry Truman will be brought to life in “Give ‘Em Hell Harry” by Samuel Gallu at the Lemon Bay Playhouse at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4.
This one-man play will be presented with Jack Rabito as the controversial and unflinchingly ethical 33rd president of the United States.

Exsultate! opens its 2011–2012 three-concert seasons Dec. 4.
The chamber chorale Exsultate! begins its 10th concert season with “Sounds of the Season” at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, in the Grace United Methodist Church sanctuary, 400 Field Ave. E., on Venice Island.
Conductor and Artistic Director Stephen Johns said, “As promised in the subtitle, this holiday treat will sing out from ‘Cathedral Bells to Sleigh Bells Around the World.’ Our top-notch ensemble Jubilate! and Venice High School’s Le Voci di Venezia Chamber Choir will join Exsultate! as we explore the musical traditions of Europe, America, and beyond. The program will include vocal literature from various cultures and stylistic periods with a few surprises for our audience.”

Volunteers are needed at the Native Plant and Butterfly Garden at Cedar Point Environmental Park, 2300 Placida Road.
The garden is sponsored by the local Mangrove Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society. Volunteer gardeners and FNPS members work together tending this garden from 9 to 11 a.m. Mondays. Learn about Florida native plants and their wildlife value. No previous knowledge is required.
