Englewood motorcyclist killed in head-on collision on 776

FHP logoENGLEWOOD, Fla. – An Engle­wood motor­cy­clist was killed Thurs­day when his vehi­cle was struck by a car dri­ven by an elderly woman, the Florida High­way Patrol said.

Kevin Stu­art Orf, 49, was dri­ving south on Indi­ana Avenue at about 7:40 p.m. and was approach­ing Fox­wood Boule­vard when his motor­cy­cle col­lided with a Dodge Car­a­van that was com­ing the other way, accord­ing to the FHP report released Saturday.

Both vehi­cles were dri­ving along the cen­ter line, the report said, describ­ing a head-on collision.

The Car­a­van, a 2000, was dri­ven by Har­riet June Hearn, 86, of Rotonda West, the report said. Hearn suf­fered minor injuries and was taken to Engle­wood Com­mu­nity Hospital.

Orf was not wear­ing a hel­met, the report said.
