Englewood cyclist hurt in hit and run

FHP logoENGLEWOOD, Fla. – An Engle­wood bicy­clist was injured Thurs­day when he was struck by a truck on Engle­wood Road.

Jeremy Carder, 39, was taken to Sara­sota Memo­r­ial Hos­pi­tal with seri­ous injuries after he was hit at about 1:39 p.m. by an unknown truck, while cross­ing Engle­wood Road, accord­ing to the Florida High­way Patrol.

The truck was going north on State Road 776 in the right lane, south of the inter­sec­tion of Engle­wood Isles Park­way, the report states. Carder was stopped on the south­east cor­ner of the inter­sec­tion. As Carder began to ride across 776 the truck hit the left side of the bicycle.

The unknown truck fled, con­tin­u­ing to travel north, the report states.
