Suncoast Humane Society plans event for homeless animals

ENGLEWOOD, Fla. – Sun­coast Humane Soci­ety will be hold a Pet Appre­ci­a­tion Day & Walk for Home­less Ani­mals on Nov. 12 in Ann Dever Memo­r­ial Park.

The walk is a fundraiser for the Humane Soci­ety, which cares for the home­less ani­mals through­out Char­lotte, south­ern Sara­sota and Boca Grande region of Lee Counties.

Reg­is­tra­tion for the walk is $25 per per­son or $90 for a team of four and can be done online at www.humane.org or in per­son at the Engle­wood adop­tion cen­ter, 6781 San Casa Drive. Walk­ers will com­pete in sev­eral dif­fer­ent awards categories.

The pro­grams at Sun­coast Humane Soci­ety are 100 per­cent donor funded.

The walk will kick off at 9 a.m. with a .8-mile stroll through the park, which is adja­cent to Sun­coast Humane Society’s adop­tion cen­ter. Longer trails are located through­out the park for those look­ing for a more stren­u­ous hike after the offi­cial walk. The ven­dor vil­lage will open for busi­ness at 10 a.m. and enter­tain­ment, food and prize draw­ings are planned after­wards. Expect a cel­e­bra­tion of pets, com­mu­nity and Sun­coast Humane Society.
