Paul D. Dean, 68, of Port Char­lotte, Fla., for­merly of Upton, Mass., and Lib­erty, S.C.,  passed away Tues­day, Aug. 2, 2016, at his Char­lotte County residence.

Born on June 1, 1948, in Worces­ter, Mass., to the late George and Gertrude (Ram­sey) Dean, he had proudly served in the U.S. Marines. His first tour of duty in Viet­nam was from 1966 to 1967 HMM363 and sec­ond tour was 1968 to 1969 HML367. Cor­po­ral Dean was awarded the Dis­tin­guished Fly­ing Cross for hero­ism. Paul was a life mem­ber and Past Post Com­man­der of the George L. Wood V.F.W. Post 5594 in Upton, Mass.

Paul was a mill­wright for Local 1121 in Boston, Mass., he was the owner/operator of Deans’ Cab­i­net Shop of Largo, Fla; but his true inter­est was in being an entre­pre­neur where he bought and sold real estate, hot rods, boats, and motorcycles

Paul and his fam­ily moved to Florida in 1979 from Upton and later moved to Lib­erty where he enjoyed RVing, boat­ing and spend­ing time with his grand­chil­dren. He was dearly loved by all who knew him.

He is pre­de­ceased by his par­ents and a brother, George “Pep” Dean in 2014.

Sur­vivors include his lov­ing wife of 44 years, Colleen A. Dean; two sons, Paul D. (Rhonda) Dean Jr. and Gary D.(Kim) Dean; a brother, Fred­er­ick Dean; a sis­ter, Joy Bell; two grand­chil­dren, Jacob and Jalynn Dean; many nieces and nephews, cousins and in-laws.

Pri­vate inurn­ment will be in Sara­sota National Cemetery.
