ENGLEWOOD, Fla. – An Englewood pedestrian was struck and killed Friday night when she stepped into the path of an oncoming pickup truck.
Kathleen Stringham, 60, 380 N. Elm St., was pronounced dead at the scene after the 10:32 p.m. accident at North Indiana Avenue near East Perry Lane.
The crash forced Florida Highway Patrol, assisted by Sarasota County Sheriff’s units, to close the northbound lanes of North Indiana Avenue (SR 776) during the investigation and restoration of the site.
According to the FHP report, Richard Edwards, 48, of Englewood was driving his Ford F350 north in the right lane on Indiana Avenue while the victim was walking north on the east sidewalk approaching East Perry Lane when she turned west to cross Indiana. There was no crosswalk. The victim walked into the path of the truck and was struck.
No charges have been filed.
