Elizabeth Jane Allen

Elizabeth Jane Allen, 92, of Englewood, Fla., slipped away Saturday, July 16, 2016, at her Charlotte County residence.

Born on May 21, 1924, in Yonkers, NY, she had been a resident of Englewood for 33 years since coming from Brewster, NY.

Mrs. Allen was employed by the Putnam County Clerk’s office.

She was a member of St. David Episcopal Church.

Betty left us with a treasure of gifts. She shared her art of laughter, was a talented creative artist and had the best thickening recipes on earth. She graced us with her beautiful voice and sang our favorite song: Somewhere Over the Rainbow. We will never forget her.

Survivors include her loving husband of 72 years, John P. Allen of Englewood; two sons, John P. (Patricia) Allen III of Valley Center, Calif., and Steven C. (Roberta) Allen of Brewster, NY; one sister, Doris Mills of North Port, Fla.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Committal service and inurnment will be in November at Sarasota National Cemetery.

Englewood Community Funeral Home with Private Crematory has been selected to handle arrangements.  You may share a memory with the family at www.engelwoodfh.com
