Charles “Chuck” Wade, 86, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away peacefully on June 5, 2016.
He was born Dec. 5, 1929, to Lovia and Dennis Wade in Oakland City, Ind. He married Ruth Risley of Petersburg, Ind., on Oct. 22, 1949.
Chuck was a master carpenter and worked for many years in the Chicago suburbs. After moving to Evansville, Ind., in 1970, he and Ruth owned and operated Risley TV on West Franklin St. A member of Evansville’s West Side Nut Club, Chuck later worked as a master finish carpenter, where he enjoying designing and building furniture and custom items for friends and family. Chuck took great pleasure in meeting and talking to people. Many gravitated towards him for his genuine humility and sense of humor. He was a volunteer for Meals On Wheels in Englewood for seven years.
A generous and loving soul to all who knew him, he was a loving husband, father, uncle and friend.
Chuck is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Ruth, of Life Care Center in Punta Gorda, Fla.; his son, Douglas, of Indianapolis, Ind.; a sister, Pauline Christmas, of Arlington, Texas; and a brother, Devon, of Salem, Ore.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Clyde, Mary, Gladys, Dorothy, Dessie and JB.
Chuck leaves behind numerous truly adoring nieces and nephews, for many of whom he provided a loving and nurturing environment.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 18, at the Christian Theological Seminary, Sweeney Chapel, 1000 West 42nd St., Indianapolis, IN 46208.
Inurnment will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Petersburg, Ind.
