Tropical storm watch continues for Englewood area

ENGLEWOOD, Fla. – Trop­i­cal Storm Colin is expected to affect the area all day Mon­day, and heavy rains are expected to con­tinue this week, accord­ing to the National Weather Ser­vice. A trop­i­cal storm watch remains in affect from Engle­wood north to the Panhandle.

Accord­ing to the National Weather Service:

This after­noon: Trop­i­cal storm con­di­tions pos­si­ble. Show­ers and pos­si­bly a thun­der­storm. Some of the storms could pro­duce heavy rain. High near 83. South wind 26 to 31 mph, with gusts as high as 43 mph. Chance of pre­cip­i­ta­tion is 100 per­cent. New rain­fall amounts between three quar­ters and one inch possible.
• Tonight: Show­ers and pos­si­bly a thun­der­storm. Some of the storms could pro­duce heavy rain. Low around 78. Windy, with a south wind 28 to 32 mph, with gusts as high as 45 mph. Chance of pre­cip­i­ta­tion is 100 per­cent. New rain­fall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
Tues­day: Show­ers likely and pos­si­bly a thun­der­storm. Cloudy, with a high near 88. Heat index val­ues as high as 100. Breezy, with a south­west wind 15 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of pre­cip­i­ta­tion is 70 per­cent. New rain­fall amounts between a half and three quar­ters of an inch possible.
Tues­day Night: Scat­tered show­ers and thun­der­storms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 77. South­west wind 7 to 9 mph. Chance of pre­cip­i­ta­tion is 50 per­cent. New rain­fall amounts between a quar­ter and half of an inch possible.
Wednes­day: Show­ers and thun­der­storms likely. Cloudy, with a high near 87. South wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of pre­cip­i­ta­tion is 70 per­cent. New rain­fall amounts between a half and three quar­ters of an inch possible.
Wednes­day Night: Scat­tered show­ers and thun­der­storms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 76. West wind around 6 mph becom­ing south south­west after mid­night. Chance of pre­cip­i­ta­tion is 50 per­cent. New rain­fall amounts between three quar­ters and one inch possible.
Super­in­ten­dent Steve Dion­i­sio has announced that all stu­dent sched­uled and related activ­i­ties at any of the county schools across Char­lotte County are can­celled Mon­day due to the severe weather forecast.
