Huge turnout for boating safety class

ENGLEWOOD, Fla. – The recent BoatS­mart Class con­ducted by the Char­lotte County Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit and the US Coast Guard Aux­il­iary (USCGA), Flotilla 87, Engle­wood, made a big­ger splash than expected.

Accord­ing to a Flotilla source, about 40 peo­ple were expected to show up, but 122 res­i­dents turned out at  the
 Engle­wood Event Cen­ter, all earn­ing their Florida Safe Boat­ing Certificate.
