Maxine Carter, 93, of Englewood, Fla., passed away Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016, at Englewood Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center.
She was born June 16, 192, in Bedford, Ind., to Burrell and Ruth (Lewis) Brim.
Maxine and her husband, Rex A. Carter (who passed away in 2009), moved Florida 31 years ago from Bucyrus, Ohio.
She was an active member of the Community Presbyterian Church, leading the Prayer Chain for many years. She also was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and enjoyed music, playing the piano at age 90. Maxine enjoyed cooking and especially trying new recipes and helping others.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Carter and her spouse Patrick Hardesty of Kennett Square, Pa.
A memorial service celebrating life and resurrection will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 18, at Community Presbyterian Church, 405 S. McCall Road. Family will greet friends during a lunch in Kastner Hall after the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Maxine’s name may be made to the Community Presbyterian Church or Tidewell Hospice, Inc. 5955 Rand Blvd. Sarasota, FL 34238.
