ENGLEWOOD, Fla. – The Englewood area’s two United Methodist churches have special events planned this weekend as Holy Week gets underway for thousands of area Christians.
Families are invited to Gulf Cove United Methodist Church at 1100 McCall Road in Gulf Cove for fun and games at the annual Easter Festival.
The event is scheduled for 10 a.m. today (Saturday, March 19).
Kids age 12 and younger will receive an empty basket and take part in an Easter egg hunt. After the hunt, there will be snacks and activities – a bounce house, crafts, and several family games – and prizes.

Englewood United Methodist Church will get things rolling with a traditional Palm Sunday (March 20) service at 7:45 a.m. at the church located at 700 E. Dearborn St.
Then, at the 9:15 and 11a.m. services, WSRZ 107.9 radio celebrity David Jones will deliver scriptural poetic narrative to the musical “Journey with Jesus.” Director of Music Ministries Fonda Davies on the organ and the 75-voice EUMC Sanctuary Choir will relive the story of Jesus’ passion and resurrection in song, accompanied by the narration, instrumental and video enhancements.
EUMC’s egg hunt will be held Saturday, March 26.
