FHP updates vehicle description in hit-and-run that killed 14-year-old

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. – Law enforce­ment offi­cials con­tinue to hunt the dri­ver who killed a 14-year-old Port Char­lotte boy Feb. 26 near Shee­han Boule­vard and State Avenue in Port Charlotte.

The boy, Devin Fer­erly, was rid­ing his bike in the south­bound lane of Shee­han Boule­vard north of State Avenue, accord­ing to the Florida High­way Patrol report, while an unknown vehi­cle was headed north on Shee­han, south of State. The vehi­cle, the report stated, crossed the dou­ble yel­low cen­ter­line and hit Fer­erly, then left the scene.

The FHP Thurs­day updated its descrip­tion of a sus­pect vehi­cle: Pos­si­bly a sil­ver (light color), 2003 to 2006 Chevro­let pickup truck (pos­si­bly a Sil­ver­ado with either an extended cab or crew cab) with dam­age to the dri­ver side headlight/bumper area and pos­si­ble dam­age to the wind­shield. (The truck is also pos­si­bly lifted and may have a chrome tool chest in bed of truck)
