Dominick Jude Chi­mento, 82, of Port Char­lotte, Fla., died Tues­day, Jan. 5, 2016.

He was born July 11, 1933, in Brook­lyn, N.Y., to Dominick and Philom­ena (Alia) Chimento.

Dominick was the vale­dic­to­rian of Brook­lyn Tech­ni­cal High School. He moved to Florida in 1976 from Long Island, N.Y. Mr. Chi­mento was a mem­ber of Gulf Cove United Methodist Church, and a mas­ter at putting together jig­saw puzzles.

He is sur­vived by his wife, Janet; four sons: Christo­pher Chi­mento of Port Char­lotte, Thomas Burkhart of Port Char­lotte, John Burkhart of Long Island, N.Y., and Don­ald Burkhart of North Port, Fla.; one daugh­ter, Lorelle Scott of North Port; a sis­ter, Dolores Moschella of Mel­bourne, Fla.; a brother, Richard Chi­mento of Las Vegas, Nev.; 15 grand­chil­dren and 4 great-grandchildren.

A memo­r­ial ser­vice with inurn­ment will be held at Gulf Pines Memo­r­ial Park at a later date. The fam­ily requests memo­r­ial con­tri­bu­tions in his name be made to Tidewell Hos­pice, Inc. 5955 Rand Blvd. Sara­sota, FL 34238.
