Mar­jorie E. Lip­ton Brooks, 91, of Port Char­lotte, Fla., passed away Tues­day, Oct. 13, 2015, at her Char­lotte County residence.

Born on April 11, 1924 in Wolfeboro, N.H., to Chester and Ethel Price, Mar­jorie moved to this area with late hus­band, Rus­sell Brooks 20 years ago from Pitts­burg, N.H. They were active in the Grange and the Masonic Order in Florida. A lov­ing wife, mother and grand­mother to her fam­ily, she will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her. She was a mem­ber of Hope Lutheran Church in Gulf Cove for over 15 years. Mar­jorie was a Gold Star Mother as her son, Joseph Lip­ton, USMC, was killed dur­ing the Viet­nam War.

Sur­vivors include her chil­dren: Donna San­born of Port Char­lotte; Nancy Fuller of Cam­den, Tenn.; Betty Digia­como of York, Maine; James Lip­ton of Wells, Maine; a step­son, Rus­sell “Butch” Brooks Jr. of Maine; 11 grand­chil­dren; 16 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

Vis­i­ta­tion will be held Mon­day, Oct. 19, from noon to 2 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m., with a funeral ser­vice to begin at 5 p.m., at the Engle­wood Com­mu­nity Funeral Home, 3070 South McCall Road.  A grave­side ser­vice will be held at 11 a.m. Tues­day, Oct. 20, at Sara­sota National VA Ceme­tery, 9810 State Road 72, Sarasota.

The fam­ily will cel­e­brate Marjorie’s life at the home of Donna San­born from 5 to 7 p.m. Tues­day. Call 941−697−4227 if you need directions.
