James William Fai

James William Fain (Jim), 77, lov­ing hus­band of Ruth (Knowles) Fain for 57 years, passed from this life at home in Engle­wood, Fla., on Oct. 1, 2015.

His imme­di­ate sur­vivors besides his wife are a son, Bill and his wife Lyn of Care­free, Ariz.; two daugh­ters, Lori Sweet of Wake­field, R.l. and Lisa Good­win and her hus­band John of Nar­ra­gansett, R.l.; three grand­sons: Charles J. Sweet, Brian C. Sweet, and Jack M. Good­win; five grandaugh­ters: Kerri L. Sweet (Andrew Kinee), Michelle B. Sweet (C.J. Wilkens), Jenna M. Good­win, Emily F. Fain, and Natalie E. Fain; a great-grandson, Rex J. Wilkens; two sis­ters: Thelma Scruggs and Audrey Gold­man of South Car­olina. Jim was pre­de­ceased by sis­ters Peggy Cromer, WillieBelle Crook and Shirley Bent­ley, and an infant brother, Richard Lee Fain.

He was the son of James Willis Fain and Susie Palmer Fain of Georgia.

Jim was born in Lin­col­nton, Ga., Sept. 2, 1938, and grew up there until he joined the U.S. Navy in 1955 and then resided in Rhode Istand for 56 years before mov­ing to Florida in 2012.

He was a true South­ern Gen­tle­man, loved by all who knew him, and will be always fondly remembered.
