Mol­lye Grable Young, 80, of Venice, passed away Sat­ur­day, Aug. 29, 2015, at Engle­wood Com­mu­nity Hospital.

Born Dec. 27, 1934, in Cam­den, Ark., she had been a res­i­dent of Sara­sota County for 20 years since com­ing from Gar­den City, Mich. A lov­ing wife, mother and home­maker for her fam­ily, Mol­lye was a teacher’s aide for spe­cial needs chil­dren.  Dur­ing the rest of her time she ful­filled the role as “coaches wife” for her late hus­band, Billy Joe Young, who coached high school bas­ket­ball and base­ball. He pre­de­ceased her in 2006.

She was a mem­ber and for­mer trea­surer for both the Ton­quish Bap­tist Church in West­land, Mich., and then the Mer­ri­man Road Bap­tist Church in Gar­den City, Mich.

Sur­vivors include her two sons, Billy Joe (Natalie Dou­glas) Young Jr. of New York City and Theodore (Liz McNa­mara) Young of Greens­boro, N.C.; a sis­ter, Martha Sue Nash of Atlanta, Ga.; and a grand­daugh­ter, Casey Young of Raleigh, N.C..

A cel­e­bra­tion of Mollye’s life will be at a later date.
