Darlene I. Buroker

Darlene I. Buroker, 91, of Rotonda West, Fla., formerly a long-time resident of Beloit, Wis., passed away peacefully Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015, with her loving family by her side.

A dedicated wife, loving mother and grandmother, Darlene was born  Dec. 13, 1923, in Soldiers Grove, Wis. She was the second oldest of six daughters born to Harvey and Effie Martin.

Darlene married the love of her life, Keith Buroker, settled in Beloit, Wis., and raised three children. They remained happily married for 56 years.

She was a dedicated worker at Freeman Shoe in Beloit for more than 30 years, retiring in 1985. After her retirement, she enjoyed volunteering at Beloit Memorial Hospital. Her interests included reading, putting together puzzles with her family and making her ceramic Christmas trees. She always loved a good game of euchre and playing the slots.

Darlene was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Beloit until she moved to Florida in 2007, when she transferred her membership to Faith Lutheran Church.

The matriarch of her family, she was a selfless woman who always put her family first. She was the voice of reason with love, wisdom and compassion in her heart.  A woman of faith and strength she created family traditions that will be carried on by her family for many generations to come.

She will be greatly missed by her loving children Judy (Jerry) Buchs of Beloit; Nancy Stiener of Naples, Fla.; Jim (Barbara) Buroker of Rotonda West; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, two sisters and her special two sister-in-laws.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith Buroker; son-in-law Joel Stiener; three sisters, one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation and burial will be in Beloit.

Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, 551 Rotonda Blvd. West, Rotonda West, FL 33947 in memory of Darlene Buroker.

Englewood Community Funeral Home has been selected to handle arrangement.  You may share a memory with the family at www.englewoodfh.com
