Ann Martha Cop­pla, 75, of Rotonda West, Fla. passed away on Tues­day, Dec. 23, 2014, at Tidewell Hos­pice in Port Charlotte.

Born on March 12, 1939, in New Haven, Conn., she had been a win­ter res­i­dent for a decade prior to mov­ing from Madi­son, Conn., to Florida in 1987 as a per­ma­nent res­i­dent of Char­lotte County.

Ann enjoyed the life of a mother, wife, busi­ness­woman, dancer and fash­ion model. She attended the Uni­ver­sity of Con­necti­cut, South­ern Con­necti­cut State Uni­ver­sity and was a cer­ti­fied instruc­tor for the Uni­ver­sity of New Haven and Bran­ford School of Business.

A ded­i­cated tap dancer, for a time she danced with the Rock­ettes in New York City, and locally she was a mem­ber of the Tringali Tappers.

Ann retired as the president/CEO of Shore­line Real Estate and Insur­ance, that she founded in 1978. She had been a mem­ber of the Engle­wood and the Punta Gorda Board of Realtors.

After mov­ing to Rotonda from Punta Gorda Isles, she was active with the Greater Fed­er­ated Women’s Club of Rotonda, and a mem­ber of Char­lotte County Marine Corps League, 1st Marine Divi­sion USMC of South West Florida.  A com­mu­ni­cant of St. Fran­cis of Assisi Parish in Grove City, Ann was a mem­ber of the Women’s Guild and K.O.C. Ladies Auxiliary.

She is pre-deceased by three sib­lings: Gene, Frank and Patri­cia, all hav­ing lived in Wood­bridge, Conn.

Sur­vivors include her lov­ing and devoted hus­band of 58 years, Thomas; three chil­dren: Major Randy of Cape Canaveral, Fla., Dr. Kyle of South Car­olina and Adele Beth Greene of Florida; two broth­ers: John of Cal­i­for­nia and George of Con­necti­cut; two sis­ters: Colleen of Con­necti­cut and Jane of Cal­i­for­nia; and many nieces and nephews in Connecticut.

Vis­i­ta­tion will be held from 10 a.m. to noon and 2 to 4 p.m. Wednes­day, Jan. 7, at Engle­wood Com­mu­nity Funeral Home, 3070 S. McCall Road. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thurs­day, Jan. 8, at St. Fran­cis of Assisi Parish, 5265 Placida Road, Grove City.
