George G. “Akim” Monlouis, 50, of Englewood passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2012, at his Charlotte County residence.
Born April 23, 1962, in Castries, St. Lucia, British West Indies, he had been a resident of Florida for six years since coming from Hempstead, N.Y. Akim was employed by Comcast as a cable installer prior to his illness. He enjoyed poker and belonged to a league.
He is survived by his loving wife of one year, Karen J. Gundlach of Englewood; two daughters, Dannette and Tamika, both of Staten Island, N.Y.; his mother, Unita of St. Lucia; several brothers and sisters; many nieces and nephews and one grandson.
Funeral service and burial will be in St. Lucia.
A local memorial service will be held at a later date.
