George G. ‘Akim’ Monlouis, 50

George G. “Akim” Mon­louis, 50, of Engle­wood passed away Wednes­day, July 26, 2012, at his Char­lotte County residence.

Born April 23, 1962, in Cas­tries, St. Lucia, British West Indies, he had been a res­i­dent of Florida for six years since com­ing from Hemp­stead, N.Y. Akim was employed by Com­cast as a cable installer prior to his ill­ness. He enjoyed poker and belonged to a league.

He is sur­vived by his lov­ing wife of one year, Karen J. Gund­lach of Engle­wood; two daugh­ters, Dan­nette and Tamika, both of Staten Island, N.Y.; his mother, Unita of St. Lucia; sev­eral broth­ers and sis­ters; many nieces and nephews and one grandson.

Funeral ser­vice and bur­ial will be in St. Lucia.

A local memo­r­ial ser­vice will be held at a later date.
