William J. LeVasseur, 91

William J. LeV­asseur, 91, of Engle­wood, died Mon­day, Jan. 16, 2012, at Engle­wood Com­mu­nity Hospital.

He was born Nov. 15, 1920, in Woonsocket, R.I., to Ernest and Cather­ine LeVasseur.

Mr. LeV­asseur was awarded the Pur­ple Heart and Bronze Star while serv­ing in the U.S. Army dur­ing World War II. He moved to Florida 25 years ago from Say­erville, N.J. His hob­bies included stained glass, paint­ing and lit­tle the­ater. William was a mem­ber of the VFW, Amer­i­can Legion and Elks.

Sur­vivors include his wife of 62 years, Mil­dred P. LeV­asseur of Engle­wood; a daugh­ter, Lynn More and her hus­band Richard of Engle­wood; grand­chil­dren Kim Hansen and Karen More; and four great grand­chil­dren: Nicole, Rachel, Megan and Jake.

Inurn­ment will be in Arling­ton National Ceme­tery with Mil­i­tary Hon­ors at a later date.
