William J. LeVasseur, 91, of Englewood, died Monday, Jan. 16, 2012, at Englewood Community Hospital.
He was born Nov. 15, 1920, in Woonsocket, R.I., to Ernest and Catherine LeVasseur.
Mr. LeVasseur was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star while serving in the U.S. Army during World War II. He moved to Florida 25 years ago from Sayerville, N.J. His hobbies included stained glass, painting and little theater. William was a member of the VFW, American Legion and Elks.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Mildred P. LeVasseur of Englewood; a daughter, Lynn More and her husband Richard of Englewood; grandchildren Kim Hansen and Karen More; and four great grandchildren: Nicole, Rachel, Megan and Jake.
Inurnment will be in Arlington National Cemetery with Military Honors at a later date.
