CCSO announces traffic enforcement

Char­lotte Sheriff’s deputies will be check­ing for speed­ers all along Placida Road this week.

The Char­lotte County Sheriff’s Office will pay spe­cial atten­tion to traf­fic enforce­ment along Placida Road from South McCall Road to Rotonda Boule­vard  West from Sept. 6–12.

Placida Road was the site of 22 crashes in 2009 involv­ing 37 vehi­cles, injur­ing 7 and caus­ing $149,100 in damage.

The CCSO is also focus­ing spe­cial atten­tion to enforc­ing the law at the traf­fic light at South McCall Road and Beach Road.

There were 14 crashes at the light in 2009, involv­ing 32 vehi­cles, injur­ing five and caus­ing $54,060 in damages.

In Port Char­lotte, dri­vers should see stepped-up patrols along Veteran’s Boule­vard from Peach­land Boule­vard. to Har­bor Boule­vard, where,  in 2009, there were 22 crashes involv­ing 37 vehi­cles, injur­ing 12 and caus­ing $149,100 in damage.

The traf­fic light at U.S. 41 and Har­bor Boule­vard will see more law enforce­ment. In 2009, there were 25 crashes involv­ing 52 vehi­cles, injur­ing 13 caus­ing $66,250 in damages.
