Nemo!” is an original collaboration with Director Jennifer Kelly and Music Director Beth Morrison. The songs and characters in the show were tailored for the 56 campers in grades K-9 who have attended camp for two weeks, three hours a day.

The role of Nemo is played by Pine View sixth-grader Caleb Kelly; his father, Marlin, is played by sophomore Connor Byrnes; and Dory is played by ninth-grader Maggie Mayhew.

Other favorite characters making appearances include Bruce the Shark, Crush and Squirt the turtles, the endearing Tank Gang plus schools of fish, a smack of jellyfish, a pod of dolphins and a colony of seagulls. The songs include an exciting Hawaiian Tank Gang Initiation, a “Surfer Dudes” number starring the wave-surfing turtles, a lyrical jellyfish dance, and some duets between Marlin and Nemo such as “Thinking of You.”

Other production elements include costumes, scenery and video projection by LBHS 2010 graduate Ricky Pietz.

Rock Star Camp’ stars local kids in grades 4 through 9 and lets them take the stage singing, dancing and rocking out to some of their favorite contemporary and re-make songs such “Naturally,” “Rock Star,” “Party in the U.S.A,” “True Colors” and “Rockin’ Robin.” Our local rock stars have been rehearsing four hours a day for two weeks to bring you their upbeat, fast-moving concert filled with dance numbers, vocals, special effects, video projection and concert-style lighting.

The Academy is run in conjunction with the Lemon Bay Playhouse. Campers train under the tutelage of Lemon Bay High School Theater Director Jennifer Kelly, Vineland Elementary music teacher Beth Morrison, and LBHS Theatre students, who serve as counselors and perform with the campers in the production.

Lemon Bay Performing Arts Academy also offers camps and classes and sends its all-star performing arts troupe, Englewood Elite, to perform at events around the state.
