Lorina C. Harriott, 83

Lorina C. Har­riott, 83, of Engle­wood passed away peace­fully Mon­day, July 26, 2010.

She was half of the ball­room dance-teaching team, The Har­riotts, that gained a pop­u­lar fol­low­ing through­out Engle­wood and beyond over the years.

Born Dec. 5, 1926 in Croy­don, Eng­land, she was a telecom­mu­ni­ca­tions instruc­tor in the ATS dur­ing the war.

She moved to the United States in 1979 and became a cit­i­zen of the land she loved in 1999.

A very tal­ented and suc­cess­ful musi­cian, she enjoyed enter­tain­ing thou­sands of peo­ple on cruise ships. She was also an extremely pop­u­lar enter­tainer in Florida.

Much loved, much admired, her quiet Eng­lish grace will remain in our hearts forever.

A memo­r­ial ser­vice will be held at 10:30 a.m. Fri­day at the Lemon Bay Funeral Home, 2 Buchans Landing.

In accor­dance with Lorina’s wishes, her sur­viv­ing fam­ily requests dona­tions to Arthri­tis Foun­da­tion Florida chap­ter, South­west Region, 410 12th St. West, Braden­ton, FL 34205, in lieu of flowers.
