About two dozen members of Neighborhood Watch and several Charlotte County Sheriff’s Department deputies on motorcycles and in patrol cars are expected to join in the caravan. The motorcade will travel over the community’s main roads in all seven subdivisions between 6:30 p.m. and dusk.
Spearheading the event are Neighborhood Watch President John House, Watch Vice Presidents Bob Bondeson and Jim Laurent, and Charlotte County Deputy Dan Cotton, community policing officer for Englewood and deputy for Rotonda West.
Rotonda West Neighborhood Watch has about 200 members who patrol community roads every night in their own marked vehicles. Two dozen other members man base stations each night and are in direct communication with the patrols.
“We are always in need of more volunteers, especially in the summer months when many residents are up North,” said House.
Residents interested in devoting just two hours each month to the Watch should call 941−697−8030.
