Lois Lorraine Minkler, 83

Lois Lor­raine Min­kler, 83, of Venice passed away Thurs­day, July 1, 2010 after a brief illness.

Mrs. Min­kler was born Feb. 27, 1927 to Mar­tin and Anna (Boller) Roth.

Lois worked as a sec­re­tary in Chicago for 33 years. She was a found­ing mem­ber and sec­re­tary of the “Good Timers” in Wood­haven Lakes, Sub­lette, Ill. After vis­it­ing Florida for four years, Lois moved to Venice with her hus­band in 1998. She espe­cially loved gar­den­ing, but also was devoted to play­ing the organ, cook­ing, cro­chet­ing and paint­ing. She became a mem­ber of the Venice Pres­by­ter­ian Church on Oct. 24, 2009 and was a mem­ber of the Chris­t­ian Women’s Club.

Lois is sur­vived by her hus­band, Fran­cis “Sarge” A. Min­kler of Venice; her chil­dren, Michael Behan, Mar­tin Behan, Mark Behan and Suzanne Boffo of Illi­nois; her 13 grand­chil­dren and three great grandchildren.

She was pre­ceded in death by her first hus­band, Michael Behan.

A memo­r­ial ser­vice will be held at 2 p.m. Wednes­day, July 7, at Kays-Ponger & Usel­ton Funeral Home Venice Chapel, 1935 S. Tami­ami Trail. Inurn­ment will be held at a later date in Elmhurst, Ill.
