Advisory Board: Citizen Tax Oversight Committee
Vacancies: Two (2) At-Large
Purpose: Committee to conduct an annual review of the expenditures made by the Sarasota County Commission from the proceeds of the Infrastructure Sales Tax and to review any changes made by the Board to the infrastructure projects or to the allocation of sales tax proceeds as set forth in Ordinance No. 97–083, as amended.
Requirements: All nine (9) Committee members shall be residents of Sarasota County. One (1) Committee member shall be appointed from each district by the County Commissioner representing that district and four (4) at-large Committee members shall be appointed by majority vote of the Sarasota County Commission.
Term: Four (4) year.

Advisory Board: Community Action Agency Board (CAAB)
Vacancies: Three (3) vacancies as follows: one (1) representative that must be democratically selected in accordance with CAAB bylaws and will represent the eligible population of the Census Designated Place of North Sarasota and two (2) representatives from business, industry, labor, religious, law enforcement, education, or other major groups and interests who are serving in the community.
Purpose: To advise the Sarasota County Commission regarding programs for the eligible population (residents earning less than 125% of the Federal Poverty Level) and the needs of other low income residents related to the Human Services Unit of the Health & Human Services Business Center.
Requirements: Sarasota County Resident: Tripartite Board pursuant to Federal law. Members are required to attend an Advisory Committee orientation within 6 (six) months of their appointment. Members are required to use assigned county email accounts for all CAAB related communications following appointment.
Term: One (1) term of three (3) years, effective through February or March of 2014.
Meetings: Regular meetings are held at 4:30 p.m. on the second Thursday each quarter. Meeting location is under discussion by the CAAB, and location may vary. Additional meetings may be scheduled as needed. Must attend at least 75% of meetings.

Advisory Board: General Contractors Licensing & Examining Board
Vacancies: Two (2) Citizen/Consumer
Purpose: To examine applications and qualifications for general, building, residential, roofing, pool/spa, and specialty contractors doing business in the county, conduct disciplinary hearings, and perform other related functions pursuant to Ordinance No. 2002-079.
Requirements: Per the Sarasota County Code of Ordinances, No 2002-079 § 1. Chapter 22–127 Article V. Recommend to the director the various trades within the construction industry that will require a contractor in a particular field to secure a Certificate of Competency by examination, and the type, contents, and grade required to pass said examination. Examine all applications and determine the applicants’ qualifications as to their familiarity with the rules, regulations, and technical codes pertaining to that particular trade. Investigate their character, experience, financial responsibility and fitness prior to examination. Must be a resident of Sarasota County. IF APPOINTED: Must file a Statement of Financial Interests.
Term: Three (3) year.

Advisory Board: Integrated Pest Management
Vacancies: Six (6): (1) Private Citizen, (1) Homeowner’s Association, (1) Medical Professional, (1) Pest Control Industry, (1) Pesticide Retail Sector, (1) Large Public or Private Enterprise.
Purpose: To review and evaluate the management of noxious pests and vegetation in Sarasota County and make recommendations to the Sarasota County Commission concerning pest management practices, pesticide use, IPM education, program evaluation, ensure compliance with County IPM policies and procedures, and other functions related to IPM as deemed appropriate to Sarasota County Commission.
Requirements: All twelve (12) committee members shall be residents of Sarasota County.
Term: Three (3) year

Advisory Board: Public Facilities Financing Advisory Board (PFFAB)
Vacancies: Two (2) representatives from two (2) communities of interest.
Purpose: To advise and make recommendations to the Sarasota County Commission on impact fees, other funding sources, the fiscal impacts of levels of service and other issues relating to the provision and financing of public facilities.
Requirements: One (1) Civics Organization (e.g. representatives from taxpayers associations, neighborhood associations, League of Women Voters, civic organizations.), for an unexpired three-year term effective through January 2012 and one (1) Development, Building and Construction (e.g., business owners/representatives, builders, developers, realtors and providers of related services), for an unexpired three-year term effective through April 2012.
Term: To fill an unexpired three year term.
Meetings: Regular meetings are held the second Friday afternoon every other month, or on an as-needed basis. Special meetings may also be scheduled on an as-needed basis.

Advisory Board: Water and Sewer Advisory Committee
Vacancies: Three (3)
Purpose: To assist the Sarasota County Commission in the promulgation of rules, regulations, and policies, by providing recommendations on water and sewer planning.
Requirements: Members must be a Sarasota County resident and shall have experience in water and wastewater related accounting, management, engineering, customer service, or shall have served in an official capacity with a homeowner’s association or other organization which provides water or wastewater services or routinely participates in regulatory or policy matters related to water or wastewater. No member shall be employed by any municipality within the county. Members are required to attend an Advisory Committee orientation within six (6) months of their appointment and must attend at least 75% of the Advisory Committee meetings in a calendar year.

Advisory Board: Waterways Advisory Council
Vacancies: One (1) due to term expiration
Purpose: To provide a conduit for citizen input to the Waterways Program Manager and the Governing Body and to make recommendations and provide advice. The Waterways Advisory Council shall act solely in an advisory capacity, reporting directly to the Governing Body. The Waterways Advisory Council shall have no authority to obligate or expend any county or program unit funds without authorization of the Governing Body. All members of the Waterways Advisory Council shall serve without compensation.
Requirements: All members shall be property owners and residents within the Program Unit. No member of the Waterways Advisory Council shall hold an elected office, or be a vendor of county goods and/or services.
Term: Three (3) year.
